Geen wonder dat hieruit de Revival-idee geboren is.

Immers, (zoo redeneert de Methodist) Christus beeft de zaligheid voor alle menschen, hoofd voor hoofd, verworven ; bijgevolg kunnen alle menschen, kan de wereld worden bekeerd.2) Welnu, (zoo ongeveer moet zijn minor luiden) langs den gewonen weg, nl. dien der bekeering, geschiedt dit niet. :!) Ergo...? En ziet! de Revival-idee maakt zich van hem meester: zij toch onderstelt eene buitengewone vermenigvuldiging van bekeeringen: 4) ja, door haar zal de universeele evangelisatie worden teweeggebracht. 5) De
